Biography:
Music is the main motive power in the life of Aleksey Ponomarev aka Topspin. And due to it he’s achieved impressive results. His creative work is called-for such labels as Omnis, Cr2, Send, Serial, Audioholics Anonymous, Portamento. Such stars as Armin Van Buuren, John Acquaviva, John Dahlback, Steve Lawler, Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo, play his tracks in their sets and radio shows. His music with lightness and simplicity hides a hand of a real master. Techno, electro, house, progressive – in all these styles Topspin shows himself well, ignoring stylistic limits. As practice shows, dance floor only wins of it. Somebody just visits clubs, but for somebody club music becomes a part of his life. So it has happened to Aleksey. On 6 March, 2006 he decided to add to club culture something new and started to write music. After a year of experiments, Aleksey’s track Gice Misic was introduced on British label Musictracx Recordings. He was inspired by it and started doing further creative work. Juggling with styles very professionally, Aleksey concluded that creating out of stylistic limits would be more interesting. Energetic techno came to replace driving compositions of electro, house and progressive, which were in his early pieces of work. That was the next stage in Topspin’s creative search. His tracks are introduced on such labels as Cr2, BeatFreak, Serial,Omnis, Audioholics Anonymous, Portamento. Work as an A&R manager and a director of labels of Sending Media Group made its contribution to the development of a young producer, given him an idea of creating his own label. Vibra Macz Records, the first release of which was produced in January this year, made Ukrainian club market more lively. The main aim of the label is to get a proper place on the world’s club market, producing quality interesting music of international producers and of course to give an opportunity to Ukrainian musicians to make themselves known. Now more than 50 artists from all the world work on the label, they are Hard Rock Sofa, Swanky Tunes, Manuel De La Mare, D-Formation, Rhythm Code, Muttonheads … But one thing is worthy to note this is Topspin’s authoring radio show on DI.FM, Pure FM and Elektrowave Radio, Vibra Macz, that is continuing the label’s mission. Aleksey believes that very soon Ukraine will become a full-grown participant of a club market. By the way, Aleksey also is a professional tennis coach outside the studio. And that is explaining the origin of his producing name. Topspin is the turning movement of a ball that has been hit in such a way that it spins forward and certainly hits a target. Actually it’s the same as Topspin’s creative work indicating that it’s all right with talents in our country.
